Ada County
Boise is the main city of the metro. The Boise & Nampa page covers it in full. Its Airport Commerce District covers about 10,000 acres south and east of the airport (City of Boise). Permits: Boise Building, (208) 608-7070.
Meridian has its own page. Meridian Building Services handles building, fire, electrical, mechanical and plumbing permits.
Eagle, Kuna, Garden City and Star are separate cities, so ask the city about permits, not Boise. Garden City is its own city even though Boise surrounds it. Star is mostly in Ada County, with part in Canyon County. Hidden Springs and Avimor are unincorporated communities, so ask Ada County. Facilities in all of these can call.
Canyon County
Nampa, Canyon County's largest city, is covered on the Boise & Nampa page. Nampa issues its own electrical permits (Nampa).
Caldwell, the county seat, has its own page. Commercial permits there are filed online.
Middleton, Parma, Wilder, Greenleaf, Notus and Melba are separate cities, so ask the city about permits. Facilities there can call.
Outside city limits in Canyon County, the county handles building permits. The State of Idaho (DOPL) handles electrical, mechanical and plumbing permits (Canyon County).
Gem, Boise and Owyhee counties
- Gem County: Emmett.
- Boise County: Idaho City, Horseshoe Bend, Placerville, Crouch and Garden Valley. Heads-up: Boise County is not where Boise is. Boise is in Ada County. Boise County is the mountain county to the north, and its seat is Idaho City (Boise County).
- Owyhee County: Homedale, Marsing, Grand View and Murphy.
These are farther out. The company that takes the call decides whether it can reach the address, and it confirms any travel charge.
Just outside the metro
