Operators "must continuously monitor the proper operation" of those devices (UL on UL 325). DASMA describes monthly photoelectric-sensor testing for commercial door openers. When a photo-eye serves as monitored entrapment protection, its beam should be no higher than six inches above the floor under the cited UL 325 installation guidance (DASMA TDS 382).
Never bypass, cover or re-aim a safety sensor to keep a door running. If a door keeps reversing, report it.
