Chino has its own building department — and its own adopted code
Two things here that don't carry over from Ontario.
The Building Division is the city’s own. City of Chino Development Services, Building Division, 13220 Central Avenue, Chino, CA 91710, (909) 334-3251. It issues permits and reviews plans. Use the city’s Development Services permitting process to identify the application path and ask which current fees apply. Ontario’s Building Department is not the city’s permit office.
Chino has adopted its own code edition with amendments. The city states that it has adopted the 2025 Edition of the California Building Code with some amendments, and that the specific adoption and amendments are listed in Chapter 15 of the Chino Municipal Code. Checked 18 September 2026.
Ask the Building Division which amendments and permit requirements touch the actual scope, whether repair, replacement or new equipment. The statewide code title alone does not resolve a project’s local requirements.
The fire authority is separate too. Chino Valley Fire District receives its fire applications, plans and fees separately from the city.
