- Operator versus chain hoist, and whether controls are involved.
- Access and lift equipment. Working at the barrel means working at height.
- After-hours work, if the provider offers it.
Ask before you authorize: is the visit charged separately; is this a starting price, a scoped fixed price or an estimate; what is included; and what happens if the barrel turns out to be damaged once the curtain is off. Get the scope in writing.
Repair it, or replace it?

Licensing. Rolling and coiling doors sit under CSLB D-28, Doors, Gates and Activating Devices — installing, modifying or repairing "all types of residential, commercial or industrial doors including overhead or sliding door assemblies" (CSLB D-28). Check the company that will contract and perform the work at the CSLB license lookup. If a new operator circuit is involved, C-10 Electrical may be a separate scope.
Permits. The 2025 California Building Code took effect January 1, 2026 (City of Tracy Building Safety). Permit requirements depend on the work and the facility's jurisdiction.
