Which counties and towns are covered?

This area follows the Scranton–Wilkes-Barre metro area as the federal Office of Management and Budget defines it: Lackawanna, Luzerne and Wyoming counties (OMB Bulletin 23-01). Permits: Scranton's permits run through OECD Code Enforcement, and the city requires its own contractor license (Scranton permits). Archbald uses Building Inspection Underwriters for commercial inspections (Archbald). In other towns, confirm the building code official with the municipality.

Luzerne County: Wilkes-Barre and the Wyoming Valley

Towns: Wilkes-Barre, Wilkes-Barre Township, Plains Township, Kingston, Forty Fort, Swoyersville, Luzerne, Edwardsville, Exeter, West Pittston, Nanticoke, Hanover Township (Luzerne County), Sugar Notch and Ashley.

Hanover Industrial Estates is in Hanover Township. The township has its own code enforcement office (Hanover Township). Wilkes-Barre has its own Building Code Enforcement office and contractor license (Wilkes-Barre).

The Pittston area and CenterPoint

Towns: Pittston, Pittston Township, Jenkins Township, Avoca, Dupont and Duryea.

CenterPoint Commerce & Trade Park East and West sit in Jenkins and Pittston townships, and CenterPoint South is in Jenkins Township. All are near I-81 Exit 175 and the Northeast Extension's Exit 115 (park location page).

Permits here depend on which side of the town line a building sits. The City of Pittston has its own code enforcement officer (City of Pittston). Pittston Township reviews commercial plans with a third-party agency it contracts (Pittston Township). For Jenkins Township, confirm the code official with the township.

Mountain Top and the southern Wyoming Valley

Mountain Top isn't a city. It's a community covering parts of Wright Township and neighboring townships. Crestwood Industrial Park is in Wright Township, and the township's zoning and building inspections are done by Barry Isett & Associates (Wright Township).

Nearby: Fairview Township, Nanticoke, Shickshinny and White Haven.

Hazleton, Hazle Township and West Hazleton

Hazleton sits at the south end of Luzerne County, near where I-81 and I-80 meet. Valmont Industrial Park is in West Hazleton and Hazle Township. Humboldt Industrial Park straddles Hazle Township and East Union Township in Schuylkill County. The City of Hazleton has its own code office. Nearby Butler Township (Drums) and Freeland are also in Luzerne County.

Wyoming County

Towns: Tunkhannock, Factoryville, Nicholson, Meshoppen and Laceyville. Wyoming County is more rural, so give the full facility address when you call.

Near the edge of the metro
