Which counties and communities are in this request area?

Call about dock and commercial door work at facilities in the places below. The independent provider confirms the facility address and its own availability.

Bexar County — San Antonio, Converse, Live Oak, Universal City, Selma, Windcrest, Kirby, Leon Valley, Castle Hills, Balcones Heights, Alamo Heights, Terrell Hills, Olmos Park, Shavano Park, Hollywood Park, Hill Country Village, Helotes, Grey Forest, China Grove, St. Hedwig, Somerset, Sandy Oaks, Von Ormy, Elmendorf, Fair Oaks Ranch and Lytle, plus Schertz and Cibolo. Von Ormy is worth naming on its own: Union Pacific's San Antonio intermodal terminal sits at 13001 IH-35 South there, with terminal and flip operations running seven days a week, twenty-four hours (Union Pacific). Cibolo has an automotive manufacturing anchor — a transmission plant announced at up to $400 million on 159 acres (Aisin, September 2019) — and the city runs its own permits through MGO Connect, with contractor registration required before a permit application can be submitted.

Comal County — New Braunfels, Bulverde, Garden Ridge, Spring Branch, and the unincorporated community of Canyon Lake. Commercial buildings in the Canyon Lake area are in scope; boat docks and lifts are not.

Guadalupe County — Seguin, Cibolo, Marion, Santa Clara, New Berlin, Kingsbury, and the unincorporated community of McQueeney.

Kendall County — Boerne and the unincorporated community of Comfort.

Wilson County — Floresville, La Vernia, Poth and Stockdale. Elmendorf sits across the Bexar and Wilson county line.

Atascosa County — Pleasanton, Jourdanton, Poteet and Charlotte. Lytle spans Atascosa, Bexar and Medina counties.

Medina County — Castroville, Hondo, Devine, Natalia and LaCoste.

Bandera County — Bandera, Lakehills and the commercial buildings around them.

A few of these places sit in more than one county at once, which matters more than it sounds: Selma is in Bexar, Guadalupe and Comal, Fair Oaks Ranch is in Bexar, Comal and Kendall, Lytle is in Atascosa, Bexar and Medina, Schertz spans Bexar, Comal and Guadalupe, New Braunfels straddles Comal and Guadalupe, Elmendorf straddles Bexar and Wilson, Cibolo spans Bexar and Guadalupe, and San Antonio reaches Bexar, Comal and Medina. These relationships appear in the Census Bureau's 2020 place-by-county file; the current parcel boundary still decides the office. For a facility outside city limits, start with the county and ask whether any city ETJ review also applies.

Cities with their own page

  • Schertz — three counties, its own permit office and contractor registration, 2018 code series.
  • New Braunfels — named in the metro's own title, two counties, its own permit portal.
  • Seguin — Guadalupe County manufacturing out on I-10, its own code editions and registration rule.
  • Boerne — Kendall County, northwest I-10 corridor, MGO permitting and the 2021 code series.

Does the mailing city determine the permit office?

No. A San Antonio mailing address does not mean the City of San Antonio reviews the work. What matters is the building's actual jurisdiction, including any applicable city ETJ review.

If you are not sure which side of a line a building sits on, the City of San Antonio publishes a One Stop zoning and address map. The provider and the issuing office confirm what applies.

What if the facility is near the metro boundary?

The San Antonio-New Braunfels, TX metropolitan statistical area is defined as those eight counties under the current federal delineation (OMB Bulletin 23-01, July 21, 2023). Two edges come up often:

  • Kerrville sits in the wider combined statistical area rather than this metro.
  • San Marcos is in the Austin metro, even though its city limits reach into Guadalupe County, which is in this one.

Facilities near either edge are looked at case by case. Call and give us the address — that is faster than working it out from a map.
