High-speed, rolling steel, or sectional?
A high-speed door has a fabric or rigid curtain and a powered drive built for fast cycling. Some fabric designs have a breakaway bottom that releases on impact; some reset automatically. Other designs use counterweights or springs, so the model matters. That is a different animal from a conventional rolling steel door (slats coiling around a barrel) or a sectional door (hinged panels on tracks). Cold storage is its own problem
A door that works fine at an ambient opening can fail at a freezer. The curtain, seals and any heater or defrost system have to suit the opening. Moisture and ice can interfere with travel; ice alone does not identify the failed part. What a qualified provider checks at a cold-storage door: the guides and any heaters, the curtain and its bottom bar, the breakaway and reinsertion mechanism, the drive and brake, and the detection devices — loop detectors in the floor, radar or motion sensors, and photo-eyes.

Nevada and Clark County rules that apply
The license. Nevada's C-3d, "Overhead Doors," classification includes overhead-door equipment and automatic and manual controls (NAC 624.210). Electrical circuit work brings C-2 scope into the license question (NAC 624.200); the provider and the Board confirm the classes needed for your job. Check the Nevada State Contractors Board license search, ask for the pocket card, and remember that contracts over the monetary limit are invalid under the Board's rules (NSCB). For a contractor-issued County permit, Clark County also requires the applicable active contractor business license; check its licensing requirements and Multi-Jurisdictional Business License search. The provider and the Board confirm which class covers a given job.
The operator. UL 325 is the Standard for Door, Drapery, Gate, Louver, and Window Operators and Systems (UL Standards & Engagement). DASMA TDS #457, "UL 325 and High Performance Doors", explains that applicability to high-performance doors depends on the installation and its requirements. Ask the provider which listing, local requirements and manufacturer instructions apply to your model. A reversing door needs its protection devices checked, never bypassed.

Questions facility managers ask
