Minneapolis–St. Paul Dock & Door Repair Service Area
Call (385) 325-7138 about dock and commercial door work at facilities in the fifteen counties of the Minneapolis–St. Paul metro, on both sides of the state line. The independent provider confirms the facility address and whether it can take the job.
Call to describe the problem—if the door is stuck open or the dock is down, say so first.
Independent service-request website. Calls may be shared with an independent commercial dock-and-door repair company. That provider confirms availability, scope, pricing, and service terms.

The counties and the permit-office starting points
Minnesota has a statewide building-code framework (Minn. Stat. § 326B.121). The actual enforcing office, building and work still matter. Use DLI's local code lookup for the facility's city or township; municipalities can share a designated building official.
| County | Principal places | Where to start on a commercial permit | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hennepin, MN | Minneapolis, Bloomington, Brooklyn Park, Plymouth, Eden Prairie, Maple Grove | The municipality's designated building official. Minneapolis routes commercial work through Development Review | The Minneapolis windows-and-doors handout people find first is a Residential Code document about houses |
| Ramsey, MN | St. Paul, Roseville, Maplewood, New Brighton, Shoreview | The municipality's designated building official. St. Paul: Department of Safety and Inspections, through PAULIE | St. Paul's express list does not name doors; ask which application, review and completion period fit the work |
| Dakota, MN | Eagan, Burnsville, Lakeville, Inver Grove Heights, Rosemount | The municipality's designated building official | Eagan has its own page |
| Anoka, MN | Blaine, Coon Rapids, Fridley, Andover, Anoka, city of Ramsey | The municipality's designated building official | Ramsey is a city here, not the county; Blaine crosses into Ramsey County |
| Washington, MN | Woodbury, Oakdale, Cottage Grove, Stillwater, Forest Lake | The municipality's designated building official | Crossing the St. Croix from here changes the state, not just the town |
| Scott, MN | Shakopee, Savage, Prior Lake, Jordan | The municipality's designated building official | Shakopee has its own page |
| Carver, MN | Chaska, Chanhassen, Waconia, Victoria | The municipality's designated building official | Chanhassen crosses into Hennepin County |
| Wright, MN | St. Michael, Albertville, Monticello, Buffalo, Otsego | Look up the city or township's designated building official | Confirm the township authority before assuming the county |
| Sherburne, MN | Elk River, Big Lake, Becker, Zimmerman | Look up the city or township's designated building official | Princeton crosses into Mille Lacs County |
| Chisago, MN | North Branch, Chisago City, Lindström, Wyoming | Look up the city or township's designated building official | Outer-metro; confirm the office for the parcel |
| Isanti, MN | Cambridge, Isanti, Braham | Look up the city or township's designated building official | Outer-metro |
| Mille Lacs, MN | Princeton, Milaca, Onamia | Look up the city or township's designated building official | Princeton also sits in Sherburne County |
| Le Sueur, MN | Le Center, Le Sueur, Montgomery | Look up the city or township's designated building official | New Prague crosses into Scott County |
| St. Croix, WI | Hudson, New Richmond, Somerset, Baldwin, Roberts | Wisconsin DSPS or its delegated reviewer for covered plan review; the local inspector for municipal permits | City, town and village lines matter here. Hudson has its own page |
| Pierce, WI | River Falls, Prescott, Ellsworth | Same as St. Croix County | River Falls sits in both Wisconsin counties |
Electrical is its own question everywhere in Minnesota. About 66 cities run their own electrical inspection authority; the state covers the rest. DLI's instructions say not to file with the state if the project is in a city that has local authority, and warn that the project's actual location "is often different than the mailing address used by the building's occupant" (DLI electrical permit instructions). There is an address lookup. Use it before anyone files.

Those fifteen counties are the Minneapolis–St. Paul–Bloomington, MN–WI metropolitan area as delineated in OMB Bulletin No. 23-01, July 21, 2023. That is a geographic reference for organising requests. It is not a provider's territory, and it is not a drive radius.
Names that catch people out
Give the street address on the call so the correct jurisdiction can be checked. But if you are trying to work out which office to phone yourself, these are the ones that trip people up in this metro:
- White Bear Lake the city and White Bear Township are two different places, and the city also extends into Washington County.
- Ramsey is a city in Anoka County as well as the name of a county.
- Blaine crosses the Anoka–Ramsey county line.
- Chanhassen sits in both Carver and Hennepin.
- Hastings sits in both Dakota and Washington.
- New Prague sits in both Scott and Le Sueur.
- Princeton sits in both Sherburne and Mille Lacs.
- Dayton and Rockford cross the Hennepin–Wright line; Spring Lake Park crosses Anoka–Ramsey.
- River Falls and Spring Valley, WI sit in both St. Croix and Pierce.
- And a Hudson mailing address may be in the City of Hudson, the Town of Hudson, or North Hudson — three different authorities. More on that here.

The Wisconsin side is genuinely different
Not a slogan. Two concrete differences:
A different approval system. Wisconsin DSPS or a delegated municipality reviews covered commercial-building projects; the local permit is a separate check. Minnesota also has commercial plan review. Ask which approvals the actual work needs rather than assuming every repair goes to the state (Wisconsin DSPS).
Different electrical code edition. Minnesota moved to the 2026 NEC on August 17, 2026. Wisconsin moved to the 2023 NEC on September 1, 2026, skipping the 2020 cycle, through amendments to ch. SPS 316. Two weeks apart, two different code books, one river between them.
For a new or changed electrical installation, ask which edition and permit apply. An ordinary mechanical repair and a new powered opening do not automatically take the same path. Full detail on the Hudson page.
At and beyond the county edges
St. Cloud extends from Sherburne County into Benton and Stearns. Northfield extends from Dakota County into Rice. Braham also extends into Kanabec, and Le Sueur city into Sibley. Call about those portions, Rochester and the Olmsted County corridor, Faribault, Red Wing, Hutchinson, and Eau Claire or Menomonie on the Wisconsin side too. The independent provider confirms the facility address and whether it can take the job.
If you reach voicemail, leave the facility address, the door or dock number if known, what's wrong, and a callback number.
Start with the facility address.
