Leveler stuck up or down right now?
If a leveler is stuck up, dropped, or won't store, call and say so first. Keep people and forklifts off it and follow your facility's process for taking that door out of use. Don't climb into the pit or under the deck, and don't try to force the deck or the lip.
A hydraulic leveler holds up a heavy steel deck, and a mechanical leveler uses strong springs. A qualified provider secures the deck properly before working under it. That's their job — not something to try during a shift.

Damaged plates are often replaced rather than repaired, and the manufacturer's rules decide.

Repair or replace a dock plate?
Some makers describe plates as lighter duty (for hand trucks) and boards as heavier duty (for forklifts). That's how manufacturers describe their products — check the capacity marked on yours. At least one plate maker's manual says not to use its plate if any welds are cracked, and not to modify it without written approval. So a bent or cracked plate usually gets checked against the maker's rules and replaced, not welded up and put back in use.
