It came out of the guides. That might be the design working.
One design feature changes how you report an impact: many of them are built to break away on impact and be reset. A forklift catches the curtain, the door releases instead of tearing itself apart, and the opening is left standing there looking broken.
It may not be broken. It may have done exactly what it was designed to do.
What it isn't is something to shove back into place. A qualified provider decides whether the release was normal, whether anything got damaged on the way out, and how the door should come back into service. Some models self-recover and some don't, and which one you have is a model question, not a guess.
So when you call: say it came out after an impact, say whether the curtain looks torn, and say whether it's tried to reset itself.
Which high-speed door is this?
A high-speed door (also called a high-performance or rapid-roll door) opens and closes much faster than an ordinary commercial door, usually to keep air, temperature or contamination on the right side of an opening.

If the door has failed, keep people and lift trucks clear of the opening, don't force it, don't keep cycling it, and take the opening out of use through your facility's normal process.
Why cold-storage openings are their own problem
At a freezer or cooler, a high-speed door does more than move fast: it helps separate temperature-controlled spaces. A fault can interrupt traffic and environmental control, so tell the provider what the opening separates and which site procedures affect access.
- Condensation and ice. Warm air meeting cold surfaces puts water where it shouldn't be. Once ice forms in a guide, the door starts fighting it, and mechanical damage can follow.
- Heaters and defrost. Freezer-rated doors often have heating elements in the guides or the bottom edge. When those fail, ice is the symptom.
- Seal integrity. A door that no longer seals at the floor or the guides can allow unwanted air exchange.
- Cycle counts. The actual traffic and cycle count affect service needs; a cold opening is not automatically higher-cycle than every other bay.
- Access. A live cold opening often can't just be shut for a few hours, and washdown or hygiene rules may control when anyone can work on it. Say so when you call — it affects scheduling and price.

Controls, activation and safety devices
UPTIME_METRO_ANCHOR:high-speed-controls:END A high-speed door is a door plus a controller plus whatever tells it to open. The loop in the floor, the motion sensor, the pull cord, the radio remote — any of those can fail and leave a perfectly good door looking dead.
Safety devices are part of the same system. UL 325 is the standard covering door, gate, louver and window operators and systems, including entrapment protection. Nobody should be defeating a sensor to keep an opening working.
Fault codes on the panel are a starting point for the provider, not a repair instruction. Report the wording if it's on screen where you already are. We don't publish reset sequences, and you shouldn't follow ones you find.
Electrical. New circuits and hardwired operator or control work raise a separate NC electrical-licensing question; the general-contractor dollar threshold is not the test. § 87-43.1 has specific exceptions, including certain equipment using an existing suitable receptacle. Ask which credential or exception covers the work. Across the state line, ask the SC board about the Electrical subclassification and Chapter 11's scope and exceptions.

We can't quote a high-speed door repair from a web page. The price depends on the model, the damage, parts, and access. Here's what to ask before you authorize work.

Repair the curtain or replace the door?
A repairable fabric panel is a different scope from damage involving the guides, drive and controller. Ask whether model-compatible parts can restore the whole door, and whether the existing design still suits the opening's temperature, traffic and hygiene requirements. Compare that complete repair with installation and replacement only when the condition or application justifies it.
Local rules that apply to high-speed doors in Charlotte

- Permits. N.C.G.S. § 160D-1110(c) exempts qualifying commercial-building work costing $40,000 or less, but not its listed exceptions. The door won't reset. Is that the controller?
Could be the controller, could be the curtain position, could be something bent in the guides. A panel message narrows it down but doesn't settle it.
Do you work on the refrigeration?
