Outside the city limits, Canadian County publishes that it has no building codes
This is the most useful thing to know about doing work out here, and two facilities a mile apart on the same road can be on opposite sides of it.
Inside Yukon's city limits, the City runs its own commercial building permit process, and a commercial door replacement or opening alteration goes through it.
Outside the city limits, in unincorporated Canadian County, the County's Permit Office publishes this:
"Canadian County, excluding areas deemed as Special Flood Hazard Areas (SFHA), does not at this time have any codes that restrict the use or development of property located in the Unincorporated portions of the County."
That office issues right-of-way and floodplain permits only — in its own words, "A permit is required if you are within a county maintained right-of-way or a FEMA identified SFHA." And its instruction to everyone else is direct: "If you live within a municipality, contact that city for the zoning and permit requirements."

What to do with that. Before you plan a door replacement out here, find out whether the address is inside Yukon's city limits or in unincorporated Canadian County. The answer changes the process completely. And be careful with the mailing address as a guide: Oklahoma City's own limits reach west into Canadian County, so an "Oklahoma City" address out this way may actually answer to the City of Oklahoma City Development Center at (405) 297-2525.
