The densest concentration of dock inventory in the metro. Oklahoma County issues a "Commercial/Industrial and Office Building Permit" from the Oklahoma County Annex Building, 320 Robert S. Kerr Avenue, Oklahoma City — 405-270-0082. Facilities inside Oklahoma City limits go to the City's Development Center instead, at 420 W. Main St., (405) 297-2525. Confirm which authority covers a specific address rather than assuming from the mailing address.
Cleveland County

Oklahoma City's own limits extend south into Cleveland County, so part of the south-OKC industrial area along I-35 and I-240 is in Cleveland County rather than Oklahoma County. Norman and Moore each run their own permit functions.

Canadian County

This county carries the sharpest jurisdiction difference in the metro. In the County's own words: "Canadian County, excluding areas deemed as Special Flood Hazard Areas (SFHA), does not at this time have any codes that restrict the use or development of property located in the Unincorporated portions of the County." The County Permit Office issues right-of-way and floodplain permits only, and tells everyone else: "If you live within a municipality, contact that city for the zoning and permit requirements."

So a facility on the I-40 corridor west of Oklahoma City may face a full municipal permit process or essentially none, depending on which side of a city limit it sits. And Oklahoma City's own limits reach into Canadian County, which is exactly why the address matters more than the city on the envelope.
El Reno sits on the Union Pacific north–south line, which runs 351 miles through Enid, El Reno, Oklahoma City, Chickasha, Duncan and Lawton.
Grady County

Chickasha is about 35 miles southwest on I-44. The Greater Oklahoma City Chamber describes it as having a "240-acre industrial park with air access", with "Rail service ... offered four times daily through Chickasha by Burlington Northern and Union Pacific."
Logan County

Guthrie sits on I-35 north of the city and is served by BNSF.
Lincoln County

The I-44 Turner Turnpike corridor. This is the thinnest industrial base of the seven counties, which is worth saying plainly rather than dressing up.

This is the most useful thing on this page, and almost nobody in this market says it.
Oklahoma City's corporate limits reach into four counties — Oklahoma, Canadian, Cleveland and Pottawatomie. Far-east Oklahoma City is in Pottawatomie County, which is outside the metro line entirely.
So an "Oklahoma City, OK" mailing address does not settle which building authority would review a permit for your dock door. There are three different regimes side by side in this metro:

Confirm which office covers the actual address before you assume. And note the statewide layer on top: Oklahoma's minimum building and fire codes moved to the 2024 editions on September 14, 2026, while local jurisdictions enforce what they have adopted and may adopt higher requirements.
