Tinker Air Force Base itself sits nine miles southeast of downtown Oklahoma City across more than 5,000 acres, with two 10,000-foot runways. Worth a small piece of local history: Air Depot Boulevard, the arterial running through Midwest City and Del City, takes its name from the base's original designation — the Midwest Air Depot, established in January 1942.
