Greene County
Greene County holds Springfield, the metro's largest city. Outside city limits, the county's Building Regulations office publishes the 2012 International Codes and the 2011 National Electrical Code, and requires a commercial permit to "construct, alter, repair" a structure (Greene County).
Springfield
The City's permit bulletin says a same-size door replacement "generally does not require a permit," but a resized opening does, and the City's code lists new branch circuits as permit work. The City's building codes are the 2018 editions with the 2017 National Electrical Code, and a 2024 update is proposed, tentatively effective Jan. 1, 2027. Strafford
Strafford sits on I-44 east of Springfield. The city describes itself as a transportation center with several trucking freight companies. Its building office lists "Electrical / Mechanical replacement / upgrades" among permit work, so ask whether operator or restraint wiring counts. Call 417-736-2154 ext. 103.
Republic
Republic is a city west of Springfield. The City's history page refers to "the former Village of Brookline," where a Republic fire station sits (City of Republic), so a Brookline address may be in Republic. Confirm the address, and ask the City of Republic about permits for commercial door work.
Battlefield and Willard
Battlefield, southwest of Springfield, and Willard, to the northwest, are Greene County cities with their own city governments. Ask either city who issues permits for commercial door work.
Rogersville
Rogersville sits in both Greene and Webster counties, so check which county the building is in for anything county-level. The City has its own building department and a commercial building permit application.
Ash Grove, Fair Grove and Walnut Grove are in Greene County too.
Christian County
Christian County is south of Springfield. Outside city limits, the county's Building Regulations office in Ozark publishes the 2012 International Codes and the 2011 National Electrical Code, requires a permit before "construction, alteration, repair," and takes applications in person (Christian County).
Nixa

Ozark
Ozark is the county seat. For a building inside city limits, the City's Planning and Development office lists electrical work and "some remodeling projects" among the work that needs a permit. Call 417-581-2407. Outside city limits, it's the county office on W. Jackson St.
Clever, Sparta, Billings, Fremont Hills, Highlandville and Saddlebrooke are in Christian County too.
Webster County
Webster County is east of Springfield along I-44. Marshfield is the county seat. Seymour, Fordland, Niangua and Diggins are here too, along with part of Rogersville. For permits, ask the city inside city limits, or the county outside them.
Polk County
Polk County is north of Springfield. Bolivar is the county seat. Humansville, Pleasant Hope, Fair Play, Morrisville, Aldrich, Flemington and Halfway are here too. For permits, ask the city inside city limits, or the county outside them.
Dallas County
Dallas County is northeast of Springfield. Its county seat is Buffalo, Missouri, not Buffalo, New York. Urbana and Louisburg are here too. For permits, ask the city inside city limits, or the county outside them.
