Does a new commercial door need a permit in Fresno?
The City of Fresno's rule says a permit is needed when an owner plans to "construct, alter, repair, move, demolish, or change the occupancy of a building or structure," or to "erect, install, enlarge, alter, repair, remove, convert or replace any electrical, gas, mechanical or plumbing system." It doesn't list doors either way. A new opening, framing changes, new wiring, or a fire-rated door can each be handled differently. Ask the installer whether your job needs a permit and who pulls it, before work starts.
