Onondaga County

Syracuse and the towns and villages around it. Syracuse Hancock International Airport describes a 100,000-square-foot air cargo building on 22.5 acres with loading dock space (Syracuse airport).

City of Syracuse

The city's Central Permit Office issues commercial construction permits. See the Syracuse code-office guide for what the city asks for. The county lists the former Roth Steel site on Hiawatha Boulevard West as suitable for agricultural processing, manufacturing or commercial use (Onondaga County).

Town of Clay

Salina and Liverpool

The Town of Salina and the Village of Liverpool. The Governor's office has called the Carrier Circle and Thompson Road area, in DeWitt and Salina, "a hub for industrial parks big and small" (NY Governor's office, 2024).

Cicero

Lysander, Baldwinsville and Van Buren

The Town of Lysander says its Radisson business district hosts companies including Anheuser-Busch, McLane Northeast, Gypsum Express and Agrana (Town of Lysander). Lysander's Town Hall is at 8220 Loop Road, Baldwinsville, a mailing name it shares with the Village of Baldwinsville. The town posts a 2023 permit fee schedule (Lysander permits).

Geddes, Solvay and Camillus

The Towns of Geddes and Camillus and the Villages of Solvay and Camillus, west of the city.

Manlius, Fayetteville and Minoa

Fulton, Schroeppel and Phoenix

The City of Fulton is in Oswego County, not Fulton County. The county's Treadwell Oswego County Industrial Park is in the Town of Schroeppel, and the county names EJ USA, Otis Technology, SuperCoil and Enders Racing as neighbors there (Operation Oswego County). The Village of Phoenix is nearby.

Volney, Mexico, Pulaski and the north

The county's Airport Industrial Park is in the Town of Volney, where it says EJ USA has a fabrication facility (Operation Oswego County). Also: Hastings, Mexico, Richland, Scriba, Granby, Hannibal, Minetto and the other towns, with the Villages of Central Square, Mexico, Pulaski and Hannibal.

Madison County

Madison County's government has opted out of enforcing the state building code. Each city, town or village usually handles its own. Where a town has opted out too, the NY Department of State handles it, not the county (NY Department of State). The county tells people to start with their own municipality (Madison County).

  • City of Oneida. In Madison County, not Oneida County. Its Code Enforcement / Zoning & Construction Division is at 109 North Main Street.
  • Canastota and Chittenango. The county's development agency lists the Canastota Business Park, and the Harbor Lights Business Park with a Chittenango address, which it describes as zoned for commercial and industrial use (Madison County IDA).
  • Other towns. Lenox, Sullivan, Cazenovia, Hamilton, Eaton, Fenner, Lincoln, Smithfield, Stockbridge, Nelson, Madison, Lebanon, Georgetown, DeRuyter and Brookfield, with villages including Wampsville, Morrisville, Cazenovia, Hamilton and Munnsville.
  • Earlville. Confirm the county and municipality from the facility address.

Just outside the three counties

Facilities just outside the three counties, such as Auburn and the rest of Cayuga County, Cortland, and Rome or Utica, can call too. Give the address; the provider confirms whether it can take it.
