Raleigh–Durham Dock & Door Repair Service Area

We take calls about commercial dock and door work at facilities across the Raleigh–Durham area — seven counties across two Triangle metros. Call (385) 325-7138 with the facility address and what stopped working.

Call with the facility address—the address decides more than you'd think.

One request area, two Triangle metros

"Raleigh–Durham" is one market but two metropolitan statistical areas: Raleigh-Cary (Wake, Johnston and Franklin counties) and Durham-Chapel Hill (Durham, Orange, Chatham and Person counties). We treat the whole of it as one request area.

That's the federal delineation from OMB Bulletin 23-01 of July 21, 2023, as published by NC OSBM. We use it to organise requests coherently. It isn't a provider's territory and it isn't a guarantee — the independent provider confirms the facility address and availability.

Counties, communities, and who permits what

The last two columns are the reason this page exists. If permit work is involved, the office that handles your address isn't always the one you'd guess.

One thing worth knowing about all of it: only Johnston County publishes anything specific about doors — its "permit not required" list includes "Replacing existing doors and windows with NO structural changes." Everywhere else publishes nothing about doors, and that silence isn't an exemption. The statewide rule in N.C.G.S. § 160D-1110(c) still applies, with its carve-outs, and the office still decides. The homepage rulebook has the full picture.

Research Triangle Park

RTP is a 7,000-acre research park managed by the Research Triangle Foundation of North Carolina, which describes its role as acting "as stewards of the Park" (RTP).

For dock and door work, two things about RTP matter. First, the building stock runs to laboratories, pilot plants and distribution rather than plain warehouse, which changes the equipment mix — high-speed doors at temperature-controlled and controlled-environment thresholds, rated openings, and shipping docks with levelers and restraints. Second, the Park spans more than one jurisdiction, so give the exact building address when you call. If permit work is involved, that address decides which office applies.

Towns with their own pages

  • Garner, NC — Wake County, on US-70 near I-40. Garner runs its own Inspections Department, and it's the place in this metro where a search for "dock repair" most often lands you on boat docks.
  • Clayton, NC — Johnston County, on US-70 with I-40 to the north. The permit answer in Clayton is genuinely different from the Raleigh answer, and the town's own published door exception doesn't apply to commercial buildings.

At the edge of the area

Facilities in Sanford (Lee County), Angier, Lillington and Dunn (Harnett County), Henderson (Vance County), Oxford, Creedmoor and Butner (Granville County), and the Alamance portion of Mebane are reviewed case by case. Give the exact address when you call and the provider will tell you.

We don't claim the neighbouring metros: Greensboro–High Point, Burlington, Fayetteville, Rocky Mount, Goldsboro and Wilson each have their own market.

Why we ask for the facility address first

The address settles three things at once: whether an independent provider covers it, which permitting office applies if permit work is involved, and what access looks like on the day.

That's the whole reason the first question on the call is "where is the facility." We describe a request area. The provider confirms the job.
