Call (385) 325-7138 about dock and commercial door work at facilities in Detroit, Warren, Sterling Heights, Livonia, Romulus, and the Detroit-metro communities listed below. Independent service-request website. Calls may be shared with an independent commercial dock-and-door repair company. That provider confirms availability, scope, pricing, and service terms.

Which Detroit-area communities are included?
This page groups commercial facilities across six counties: Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Livingston, Lapeer and St. Clair. Those are the counties in the Detroit–Warren–Dearborn, MI metropolitan statistical area as delineated by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget in Bulletin 23-01, issued July 21, 2023.
That is a way of describing the region. It is not a promised service radius and not a guaranteed territory. Four communities have their own pages because their local permit path or facility mix is genuinely different; the rest are named below with the useful local distinction attached.
| Local page | Why it exists | County |
|---|---|---|
| Loading Dock & Overhead Door Repair in Warren, MI | The city permit list names new and replaced doors; large sites may add separate access requirements | Macomb |
| Loading Dock & Overhead Door Repair in Sterling Heights, MI | The page separates building-mounted commercial doors from vehicle cargo doors and uses the city permit and registration route | Macomb |
| Loading Dock & Overhead Door Repair in Livonia, MI | The commercial permit and plan-review route pairs with owner-versus-tenant authorization questions | Wayne |
| Loading Dock & Overhead Door Repair in Romulus, MI | Airport-controlled property can add WCAA project and access steps beyond ordinary city review | Wayne |
Where in Wayne County is the facility?
Detroit is the hub's principal city, but Wayne County contains separate cities and townships with their own enforcement paths. Use the actual street address and the building or bay identifier. A Detroit mailing address does not mean Detroit's building department covers the building.
Detroit and the enclosed cities — Detroit, Dearborn, Dearborn Heights, Hamtramck, Highland Park. Detroit permits run through BSEED; Hamtramck and Highland Park are separate cities entirely, even though the map looks like Detroit surrounds them.
Western Wayne {#wayne-county-west} — Livonia, Redford Township, Westland, Garden City, Inkster, Canton Township, Plymouth, Plymouth Township, Northville, Northville Township. Watch the city-versus-township split: Plymouth and Plymouth Township are different jurisdictions, and so are Northville and Northville Township — which also straddles the Wayne/Oakland line. Livonia has its own page.
Airport-area and southwest Wayne {#wayne-county-airport-area} — Romulus, Taylor, Wayne, Van Buren Township, Belleville, Huron Township, Sumpter Township. Give the building entrance and municipality rather than only "by the airport." Airport-controlled property in Romulus can add WCAA project and access steps; the Romulus page explains that distinction.
Downriver {#wayne-county-downriver} — Allen Park, Melvindale, Lincoln Park, Ecorse, River Rouge, Southgate, Wyandotte, Riverview, Trenton, Brownstown Township, Woodhaven, Rockwood, Gibraltar, Grosse Ile Township, Flat Rock. This area includes industrial, fleet, workshop and other commercial buildings. Riverfront names notwithstanding, this service covers building-mounted commercial equipment only — not marine docks or boat lifts.
Eastern Wayne {#wayne-county-east} — Harper Woods, Grosse Pointe, Grosse Pointe Park, Grosse Pointe Farms, Grosse Pointe Woods, Grosse Pointe Shores. Commercial receiving and garage bays only. Not residential garages, and not pedestrian storefront work.
Where in Oakland County is the facility?
Name the municipality, not just the county. Use the municipality and the LARA jurisdiction list to identify the enforcing office for the actual address.
North and east Oakland {#oakland-county-north-east} — Troy, Auburn Hills, Pontiac, Rochester, Rochester Hills, Orion Township, Lake Orion, Oxford, Oxford Township.
West and central Oakland {#oakland-county-west-central} — Southfield, Lathrup Village, Farmington, Farmington Hills, Novi, Wixom, Walled Lake, Commerce Township, West Bloomfield Township, Bloomfield Township, Bloomfield Hills, Birmingham. Commercial, light industrial and service-bay buildings. Project rules come from the municipality, not from the county.
Southeast Oakland {#oakland-county-south-east} — Oak Park, Ferndale, Hazel Park, Madison Heights, Royal Oak, Clawson, Berkley, Huntington Woods. Smaller commercial buildings and service bays qualify on equipment, not square footage.
Outer Oakland {#oakland-county-edge} — Waterford Township, White Lake Township, Milford, Milford Township, South Lyon, Lyon Township, Holly, Holly Township, Clarkston, Independence Township, Springfield Township. Outer-county addresses get looked at case by case.
Where in Macomb County is the facility?
South Macomb {#macomb-county-south} — Warren, Sterling Heights, Center Line, Eastpointe, Roseville, Fraser, St. Clair Shores. Warren and Center Line are separate municipalities even though the city limits interlock — Warren's building office does not cover a Center Line address. Warren and Sterling Heights have their own pages. Building doors are in scope; truck and trailer cargo doors are not.
Central Macomb {#macomb-county-central} — Clinton Township, Mount Clemens, Harrison Township, Macomb Township, Shelby Township, Utica, Chesterfield Township, New Baltimore. Give the street address; commercial receiving facilities here are buildings, not recreational boat docks.
North Macomb {#macomb-county-north} — Washington Township, Romeo, Bruce Township, Ray Township, Armada, Armada Township, Lenox Township, New Haven, Richmond, Richmond Township, Memphis. Farther-north addresses are reviewed case by case. Richmond and Memphis both straddle county lines, so the exact jurisdiction matters more than usual.
Can you call about a facility in Livingston County?
Yes. Livingston is part of the metro reference used here, and the page covers commercial facilities at addresses within the county.
Main communities — Howell, Howell Township, Brighton, Brighton Township, Genoa Township, Green Oak Township, Hartland Township, Fowlerville, Handy Township. Cities and their surrounding townships are not interchangeable authorities — Howell and Howell Township are two different offices.
Outer Livingston {#livingston-county-edge} — Hamburg Township, Pinckney, Putnam Township, Oceola Township, Marion Township, Tyrone Township, Deerfield Township, Cohoctah Township, Conway Township, Iosco Township, Unadilla Township. Reviewed case by case. Being in the metro does not mean the whole state is covered.
Can you call about a facility in Lapeer County?
Yes. Give the actual city, village or township and the commercial address.
Main communities — Lapeer, Imlay City, Almont, Dryden, Metamora, North Branch, Attica Township. Give the actual city, village or township and the commercial address.
Lapeer County townships {#lapeer-county-edge} — Lapeer, Mayfield, Oregon, Elba, Hadley, Metamora, Almont, Arcadia, Attica, Dryden, Goodland, Imlay, Burlington, Burnside, Deerfield, Marathon, North Branch and Rich townships. Outer addresses are reviewed case by case.
Can you call about a facility in St. Clair County?
Yes. St. Clair County is part of the metro reference used here, but this hub covers Michigan commercial buildings only.
Main communities — Port Huron, Port Huron Township, Fort Gratiot Township, Marysville, St. Clair, St. Clair Township, Kimball Township, Columbus Township.
Outer St. Clair {#st-clair-county-edge} — Marine City, Algonac, Clay Township, Cottrellville Township, East China Township, China Township, Ira Township, Casco Township, Richmond, Memphis, Capac, Emmett, Yale. Reviewed case by case. No recreational marine work, and nothing across the river in Canada.
What about addresses at the edge of the metro?
An address just outside these six counties can still be discussed case by case — the provider decides, not this page. What is not quietly included: Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti, Flint and Genesee County, Monroe County, the Toledo area, and Windsor or anywhere else in Canada.
For a facility in another market, use the national locations directory.
Which office handles a repair or replacement at your address?
Start with the municipality, not the county, and describe the actual work. Component repair, a replacement assembly, a changed opening and new electrical work are four different conversations.
| Where the facility is | Where to start | The scope question |
|---|---|---|
| City of Detroit | BSEED building permits | Component repair, replacement assembly, changed opening, or electrical work? |
| Warren | Warren Building Division | The city's permit list names "doors – new & replaced" — which submittals apply to a commercial bay door? |
| Sterling Heights | Permits and Inspections | Building, electrical and contractor-registration steps |
| Livonia | Inspection, Building & Enforcement | What approvals apply before work starts? |
| Romulus | Building & Safety | Commercial review and any separate electrical or fire review |
| Anywhere else in Michigan | LARA Statewide Jurisdiction List (PDF) — it names the enforcing agency for every municipality in the state | Which agency actually enforces at this street address? |
Use that last row when responsibility is unclear. It identifies the enforcing agency listed for the municipality, which is more reliable than guessing from a mailing address.
Call with the facility's actual address and what stopped working.
Which dock or door service do you need?
Every Detroit equipment page serves this same request area.
