High-speed doors are their own equipment
A high-speed door is built for fast travel and repeated use. Designs include flexible fabric or rubber curtains and rigid slats or panels; some also roll up. The drive, controls and activation devices must suit that model, whether activation uses a loop, motion sensor, pull cord or wall control.

Breakaway is a design feature, not always a fault
This is the part worth reading before you call, because it changes what you should say.
Some high-speed doors are built to break away—to release from the guides after an impact and reduce damage. Recovery is model-specific: some have automatic reinsertion features, while others need qualified service. A released curtain does not prove that the structure or drive escaped damage.
So a door that came out of its track does not by itself mean the door is broken. It also does not mean the door is undamaged. What a qualified provider determines is whether the door released as designed, whether the curtain, guides, drive, controls or activation devices took damage in the process, and what recovery is appropriate for that model.
Do not force or repeatedly cycle a damaged door to try to reset it. If it has come out more than once, report that history too; the provider can assess impact exposure, guides, activation and the model’s recovery system. Repetition is useful information, not a remote diagnosis.

Keep people and powered equipment clear, don't force it, and take the opening out of use through your facility's normal process.
Cold storage makes everything harder
A freezer or cooler door is doing two jobs—separating traffic and helping maintain a temperature boundary. Report both the door problem and any temperature or icing change you already noticed.
Moisture and temperature differences can produce condensation or ice near an opening. Some cold-storage door assemblies have heaters and insulated curtains; the provider checks the model, seals, activation and any fitted heater controls. Ice alone does not diagnose a heater fault or establish a Chicago-specific maintenance interval.
What that means for your call: say it's a freezer or cooler opening. It helps the provider assess the assembly, parts and repair scope.
Boundary worth naming: the door assembly is in scope. The refrigeration system behind the wall is not — that's a refrigeration contractor. Walk-through cooler doors with latches and hardware are a commercial door and hardware company's work.

- Your request may be shared. Calls may be shared with an independent commercial dock-and-door repair company.
- That company takes it from there. They confirm the address, scope, availability, price and scheduling, plus their own contract, work and warranty terms.
Useful but not required: whether the opening is temperature-controlled, whether the door has come out before, what the activation device is, and any fault code the panel is already showing. Don't open a control cabinet to find one.

Repair or replace? Ask how many times the curtain has been repaired, whether the guides and drive are still in good condition, and whether the door's speed and duty rating still match what the opening is actually asked to do now.

Questions about high-speed door repair
It came out of the track — is it broken?
Not necessarily. Many high-speed doors are designed to break away on impact rather than take the damage. Whether yours released as designed, and whether anything got hurt on the way, is what the provider establishes. Report the impact and leave the door where it is.
Can a torn curtain be patched?
Sometimes, depending on the material, where the tear is and how big it is. Ask for the comparison between a repair and a new curtain, including how long each takes to arrive.
Is a high-speed door the same as a roll-up?
They can overlap. “Roll-up” describes how a curtain moves; “high-speed” describes a performance family. A high-speed door can have a rolling fabric or rigid curtain, with model-specific drive and controls.
